Worship and Services
St Peter’s worships in the “high church” tradition of the Church of England.
That means that we have a great respect for beauty and ritual in our worship. We believe that things like music, incense, and movement connects us to the worship of the Church in every time and place, and is a foretaste of the worship we shall all join in Heaven.
All our services use traditional language - thee, thy, and thou. Although the structure of our worship will be very familiar, the language might be different to what you’ve experienced elsewhere. We use traditional language, like with music and ritual, to stay rooted in the history of the Church, reminding us that worship takes us out of time and unites us with every church in every time and every place.
Our Masses are celebrated facing east - the practice of the Church for centuries - so that the Priest leads the people in worship with everyone facing God together.
We use Common Worship, Order 1 in Traditional Language for our Low and Parish Masses.
